As part of the celebration of Saint Michael, the patron saint of parachutes, the Commandos Parachute Group held a series of activities, between 9 October and 30, 2024.

For Battalion Chief Lassané Porgo, commander of the 2nd military region, this type of activity shows that despite the difficult context, the army still stands, the army lives and continues to lead the fight wherever necessary. For him, “this type of activity gives soldiers morale and contributes to social cohesion. Sport allows us to stay physically fit to continue the fight, it is also a factor of cohesion between the FDS and the populations. We attended a great military ball game and as you can see, everyone is happy.”
Note that Michaelmas Day is an important holiday for military paratroopers, which celebrates their patron saint, the Archangel Saint Michael. Saint Michael is considered the protector of the paratroopers, as he is represented as a warrior fighting evil, embodied by the dragon, in an act of courage and protection, values ​​that the paratroopers share. Generally, the feast of St Michael takes place on 29 September. It was first celebrated in Vietnam in 1948.
