by Catherine Williams - Chief Editor

Lee Areum’s Statement on T-ara’s Controversy

Former T-ara member Lee Areum addressed the past T-ara controversy on Instagram. She mentioned that she had no official statement to share but responded to many inquiries through a brief message. Areum reflected on her experience when she joined T-ara. She had to learn all the songs and choreography quickly while trying to fit in with the group. The Twitter incident involving the members was challenging for her to witness.

Areum expressed gratitude towards Hwayoung, who treated her kindly during her early days in the group. However, after the injury incident, Areum felt a constant need to be cautious and uncertain, leading to a difficult experience. She claimed she lacked the time or energy to create conflict. Misunderstandings occurred, and she received an apology from Hyoyoung later on. Areum indicated that she did not dwell on the past and hoped for a peaceful resolution for everyone involved.

She shared that T-ara remains a painful memory for her, marked by her dedication and hard work during that time. Areum encouraged others to focus on the positive memories associated with T-ara’s music rather than rehashing old controversies. She wished for an end to the pain stemming from the past and expressed a desire for a quiet and ordinary life moving forward.

Ryu Hwayoung’s Response to Past Controversy

Ryu Hwayoung, another former T-ara member, issued a statement about the same controversy. She apologized for the “T-ara bullying” incident, mentioning the long-term impact on her and her family. Hwayoung revealed that she endured false information and harassment during the past twelve years. She wanted to clarify her position and seek truth in the matter.

Hwayoung explained that her sister sent a text to Areum out of concern for her well-being. She expressed hurt from being labeled as a source of conflict. Hwayoung also critiqued CEO Kim Kwang Soo for using her sister’s message without confirming the facts, which caused further distress.

She detailed her experience of isolation within the group, stating that she lived in the communal area without a roommate. Regarding specific comments made by the stylist, Hwayoung asserted that they were untrue and damaging. She emphasized that bullying causes severe harm and that both she and her sister only wish to move on from these events.

Hwayoung declared her intent to take legal action against the spread of false information while also expressing a willingness to forgive in the hope of healing. She concluded by asking for understanding from her audience as she seeks closure from the turmoil associated with her time in T-ara.
