Lee Jae-myung Leads in Poll Despite Legal Scrutiny

SEOUL – Despite ongoing legal challenges, Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, holds a meaningful lead in recent polling data, according to a survey conducted by Embrain Public at the request of YTN. The poll suggests Lee maintains strong support even after the Supreme Court’s decision regarding alleged election law violations.
Poll Details
The survey, conducted from May 4-6, included 1,007 voters nationwide. It carries a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points, with a 95% confidence level.
Survey Results
The poll indicated that 45% of respondents believe Lee Jae-myung is the most suitable candidate for the next president. Independent candidate Han duk-soo garnered 18% support, while Kim Moon-soo of the Strength Party received 12%.Lee Jun-seok of the Reformed Party polled at 4%.
Lee’s lead extends to a 10-percentage-point advantage even when combining the support for candidates from the conservative bloc. However, a notable 20% of respondents remained undecided.
Within the Democratic party,Lee Jae-myung enjoys overwhelming support,with 92% of Democratic voters viewing him as the most suitable presidential candidate. the poll suggests his support has increased by 4 percentage points since the Supreme Court referred his case back to the Seoul High Court regarding the 20th presidential election.
Party Support
The survey also measured political party support, revealing 44% for the Democratic Party, 34% for the People Power Party, 3% for the Reformed Party, and 2% for the National innovation Party. Compared to a previous survey conducted April 23-24, the Democratic Party’s support remained stable, while the People Power party and the National Innovation Party experienced slight declines. The Reformed Party saw a marginal increase.
