Li Yang and Wang Qilin, the gold medalists in men’s doubles at the Paris Olympics, finished in the top 16 at the Taipei Badminton Open. This was also the last match of Li Yang’s career, as he has confirmed to retire after this year’s end-of-year tournament.
Wang Qilin expressed his regret for not being able to achieve their goal, but thanked Li Yang for his tolerance during their six-year partnership. Li Yang stated that completing his last international event as a professional player in Taiwan is the most meaningful thing in his badminton career.
Li Yang will hold a retirement ceremony at the Little Arena tomorrow, which he describes as a thanksgiving event to mark the end of his career as a professional player. He invites everyone to join him on the field in his hometown to bid farewell to his career.
