The film follows Li Fong,played by Ben Wang,who,after moving to New York,finds himself training wiht kung fu master Mr. Han (Chan) and Karate Kid legend daniel LaRusso (Macchio).
The movie, the sixth in the franchise, takes place after the events of the spin-off series Cobra Kai. Joshua Jackson, sadie Stanley, Ming-Na Wen, and Aramis Knight join Chan and macchio in the cast.
