Leicester City Keeper Hermansen faces Injury Scan After Newcastle Defeat
Leicester City goalkeeper Mads Hermansen is set for a scan after being substituted at halftime during the Foxes’ 2-0 loss to Newcastle United on Saturday. The Danish shot-stopper appeared to be struggling with a leg injury in the first half and was replaced by Jakub Stolarczyk at the break. Manager Ruud van Nistelrooy confirmed the injury after the match, stating that Hermansen’s condition would be assessed further.
“Mads felt something in his leg and we decided to take him off as a precaution,” Van Nistelrooy said. “He will have a scan to determine the extent of the injury.”
The news comes as a blow to Leicester, who are already facing a goalkeeping shortage. Backup keeper Daniel Iversen is currently on loan at Preston North End, leaving Stolarczyk as the only other senior option.
Van Nistelrooy hinted that the club may look to bring in another goalkeeper during the January transfer window, especially if Hermansen’s injury proves to be serious.
“We will see what the scan shows and then make a decision about whether we need to strengthen that position,” he said.
Hermansen’s injury adds to Leicester’s growing list of concerns. The Foxes have struggled for consistency this season and currently sit 14th in the Premier League table.
