Lekompo Star Nova Sa Style Laid to Rest After Fatal Crash

Mpho Eric Ngoepe, a rising artist in the Lekompo music scene known professionally as Nova Sa Style, was laid to rest on May 16, 2026. The funeral service took place at Mahwelereng Stadium in Limpopo, where a large crowd of fans, family members, and fellow musicians gathered to bid farewell to the 26-year-old performer.

The musician died on May 8, 2026, following a car crash that occurred while he was traveling to an event in Mpumalanga. The sudden loss of the artist, who was recognized for his energetic contributions to the Lekompo genre, drew significant attendance at the stadium, which was filled to capacity for the memorial service.

During the service, family members shared details regarding Ngoepe’s early life and his transition into a full-time music career. His uncle, Tshepho Magongoa, informed mourners that Ngoepe was born in 2000 at Mokopane Hospital and was known within his family as a hardworking and respectful individual.

Before dedicating himself entirely to his musical ambitions, Ngoepe worked as a security officer at Zion Peace to support himself. According to Magongoa, it was his passion for music that eventually led him to leave his security position to pursue his dreams as a professional artist.

Family members described the late artist as loving, respectful and talented.

Ngoepe’s sister, Nnana Ngoepe, provided a tribute describing him as a caring brother who was driven by a desire to bring pride to the Ngoepe family through his achievements in the music industry.

The loss was also felt by his peers in the industry. Kgothatso Khoza, a fellow artist known as Real K Nfana Wa Kota, paid tribute to Ngoepe by recalling the shared musical dreams and goals they had discussed during their friendship.

The funeral was attended by a broad cross-section of the local community, including community leaders, various artists, and local organizations who came to support the grieving family.

The death of Nova Sa Style has contributed to a period of mourning within the regional music scene. Representatives from the Limpopo Artists Movement used the occasion to call for prayers and unity within the Lekompo industry, noting that the community has faced the sudden deaths of several young artists.
