Updated June 16, 2025
Leon Thomas, the Grammy Award-winning artist behind hits like SZA’s “Snooze” and his own “Mutt,” is partnering with Capital One to launch their new lounge at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). The R&B star will perform at a private event Tuesday, ahead of the lounge’s public opening on June 19.
The Capital One lounge, spanning 13,500 square feet in Terminal 4, promises a premium experience for travelers. The lounge will feature a full-service bar, New York-inspired culinary offerings, including Murray’s Cheese and Death & Co. cocktails, and a “Rare Bottle Club” with exclusive liquors and wines.
Thomas sees the Capital One partnership as a strategic move to elevate his career. “I’m really excited that I am getting the opportunity to share my music with new fans, and there’s more that I can learn and more people that I’d love to connect with as I grow,” Thomas said. He added that “tapping in with a brand like Capital One was an amazing opportunity.”
As a frequent traveler, Thomas values having a agreeable airport space. “Traveling is a really big part of my career path and I’m constantly on a plane, so lounges are important and being comfortable is a big thing when you’re waiting on your flight,” he said.”I love to rest, I love to get a little breather, and the open buffets aren’t bad either,” he added.

The JFK Capital One Lounge draws inspiration from New York City, incorporating elements reminiscent of Central park and showcasing over 40 art pieces by local artists.Open 24 hours a day, the lounge offers a coffee bar, afternoon tea, and a nightly “midnight snack.” Access is available to Capital One Venture X, Venture X Business, Venture, and Spark Miles cardholders.
Despite his busy schedule,Thomas prioritizes rest during travel. “I’m a film addict, so sometimes I’ll play a movie and check out the new releases,” he said, “but I also sleep. I watched this interview of Prince and he said that he would sleep on the bus and on the plane, and every other moment he would rehearse.”
Thomas aims for a long-lasting career like Prince and remains open to collaborations. “I have a constant feeling of butterflies seeing everything that I’ve ever manifested come to fruition,” he said, ”and as I continue to build, I’m allowing myself to continue to dream and to continue to make my goals even higher, so we can move the goalpost, you no?”
What’s next
Thomas and his team are focused on reaching new heights in his career, with more music and partnerships on the horizon.
