Paul Vernon, Chief Executive of Leprino europe, expressed gratitude to the Portlaoise team, emphasizing that the decision does not diminish the value of their contributions. Production will be shifted to existing Leprino facilities in Magheralin, Northern Ireland, and Llangefni, Wales.

Siptu,the Irish trade union representing workers at the Portlaoise plant,has expressed shock and regret at the announcement. Terry Bryan, Siptu Industrial Organiser, stated the union’s immediate concern is for its members and their families.
“Our immediate thoughts are with our members and their families following this shocking announcement this afternoon. We will engage with the company directly to see if we can lessen the impact of the decision upon our members and their families, and try to explore alternatives to the proposed job losses.”
