Levski Sofia and Bulgarian international Patrik-Gabriel Galchev have mutually agreed to part ways, the club announced today, . The 24-year-old right-back spent a significant portion of his career with the “blues,” amassing 99 appearances for the club.
Galchev, a product of Levski’s youth academy, first debuted for the senior team on . During his time at Gerena, he secured a Bulgarian Cup title in 2022. He was briefly loaned to Lokomotiv Sofia during the autumn season, where he featured in 29 matches and scored two goals.
Born in Zaragoza, Spain, to Bulgarian parents, Galchev’s football journey began at the age of three. He spent four years with Real Zaragoza before returning to Bulgaria, where he also played for Lokomotiv Sofia and DIT Sofia before joining Levski’s youth setup at age 14. He has also represented Bulgaria at the U-18 and U-21 levels, earning six caps for the U-21 team and making his senior debut on , in a 1-1 draw against Lithuania.
Levski Sofia expressed their gratitude for Galchev’s professionalism and dedication during his time with the club. “PFC Levski would like to thank Patrik-Gabriel for his professionalism and dedication with the blue jersey and wish him much health, personal and professional success,” the club stated.
Galchev’s departure comes after a period where he found himself increasingly sidelined following the arrival of Brazilian player Aldair. According to reports from Sportal.bg, several other Bulgarian clubs, including Septemvri Sofia and Lokomotiv Plovdiv, have expressed interest in acquiring the player. Sportal.bg also reported that Levski considered Galchev surplus to requirements and not part of coach Julio Velasquez’s plans.
Currently, Galchev is without a club, having returned to Levski from Lokomotiv Sofia on . His contract with Levski expired on , coinciding with the mutual agreement to terminate his association with the club. Transfermarkt currently values the player at €900k (approximately ₹7.2 Cr).
Galchev’s versatility allows him to play as both a right-back and a winger, and he is comfortable using both feet. He is represented by FirstStep Management. His career began in earnest after signing his first professional contract with Levski on , following a trial period with his former club, Real Zaragoza.
The move marks a significant shift for Galchev, who has been a consistent presence in Bulgarian football for the past several years. While his future destination remains uncertain, interest from multiple clubs suggests a competitive market for his services. His 85 appearances for Levski Sofia (prior to the loan spell) and two goals demonstrate his contribution to the club over the years. The timing of his departure, coupled with the reported interest from other teams, indicates a potential reshuffling within the Bulgarian football landscape.
Galchev’s next move will be closely watched by fans and analysts alike, as he seeks to continue his career and build upon his experience in both domestic and international competitions. His ability to contribute in multiple positions makes him a valuable asset to any team, and his recent performances suggest he remains a capable player despite his limited playing time at Levski in recent months.
