Levski Sofia is preparing to sell striker Mustapha Sangare to the Saudi Arabian club Al Fayha, according to reporting from gol.bg on April 4, 2026. The transfer follows a period of prolonged interest in the Malian forward and a strategic shift in the Bulgarian club’s attacking options.

The move comes as Al Fayha offers a multi-million euro fee to secure the services of the striker. This potential sale aligns with earlier reports from Archyde.com indicating that a successful transfer could generate revenue in the region of €3 million to €5 million, depending on the final negotiations and the player’s performance in the remaining matches of the season.

A History of Transfer Standoffs

The arrival of a significant offer from Saudi Arabia follows a turbulent 2025 for Sangare, characterized by several rejected bids and internal disputes. On July 31, 2025, FC Zurich made an initial offer of €600,000, which Levski Sofia turned down. At that time, the club’s management demanded a minimum of €1 million along with a sell-on percentage.

A History of Transfer Standoffs

Tensions escalated further in September 2025 when the Tunisian club Espérance Sportive de Tunis tabled an offer worth €1.5 million. Levski Sofia categorically refused the bid, leading to a standoff between the 26-year-old forward and the club’s management.

In an attempt to force the move to Tunisia, Sangare responded to the blocked transfer by refusing to train with the team. This period of friction signaled a growing rift, as the player had previously been encouraged to seek an exit earlier in the summer of 2025.

Strategic Squad Rebuilding

The willingness of Levski Sofia to part with Sangare is part of a calculated approach to squad building and financial sustainability. The club has already begun integrating new attacking options to fill the void left by the striker’s departure.

In January, Levski added Juan Pereira from Lokomotiv Plovdiv and signed forward Marko Dugandžić on a free transfer. The acquisition of these players provides viable alternatives in the attack, with Dugandžić poised to take on a more integral role in the squad.

The club’s technical direction, under the tutelage of Julio Velázquez, has seen Sangare’s market value rise significantly, making a summer sale a financially prudent move. While Sangare was sidelined with an injury, his expected return before the end of the season was not intended to alter the club’s long-term plans to sell him.

Player Background and Market Value

Mustapha Sangare, a Malian international, has had a varied career across Europe before joining Levski Sofia. He was trained at CO Vincennes and has represented several clubs, including Racing CFF, FC Borgo, Amiens SC in France, and Varzim in Portugal.

Despite his contributions on the pitch, his estimated market value was placed at €1 million during the September 2025 dispute, which was notably lower than the €1.5 million offer presented by Espérance de Tunis at the time. The current interest from Al Fayha represents a significant increase in the potential transfer fee.

The revenue generated from the sale of Sangare is expected to allow Levski Sofia to reinvest in other areas of the squad as they pursue a potential title-winning season in the Bulgarian First League.
