Told to think of months, not years, Liam Bradley secured a fertility sample just one hour before starting chemotherapy, leading to the birth of his daughter, BBC News reported.
Liam Bradley, a 38-year-old former supermarket area manager from Lincoln, was diagnosed with stage 4 cholangiocarcinoma after experiencing flu-like symptoms on March 6, 2025, while playing golf with friends, Ireland Live News reported.
Tumour Discovery at Lincoln County Hospital
Within three days of his initial symptoms, Liam Bradley noticed a slight yellow tinge to his eyeballs and skin and went to the A&E department at Lincoln County Hospital, according to Ireland Live News.
A CT scan revealed a stricture in his bile duct. During an MRI on April 11, 2025, doctors discovered he had stage 4 cholangiocarcinoma with 12 inoperable tumours that had spread to his liver.
Fertility Clinic Rush Before Chemotherapy
Because Liam Bradley already had two children, Darcy, 11, and Rory, 9, from a previous relationship, the couple did not qualify for NHS funding for IVF. However, in May 2025, Nurture Fertility clinic in Nottingham contacted the couple to confirm they could proceed with IVF if they provided a sample before treatment began.

Liam Bradley managed to squeeze in the sperm donation just one hour before starting his chemotherapy on May 12, 2025, after rushing from a weekend trip, according to Ireland Live News.
Six-Month Chemotherapy Scan Results
A follow-up scan after a six-month course of chemotherapy showed that all of his tumours had either gone or reduced in size, except for two, including the primary tumour in his bile duct. In October 2025, the couple learned that their first round of IVF was successful.
She really is just the perfect baby.

Their daughter, Birdie, was born on July 15, 2026, with Lois describing the birth as amazing.
