Liepāja Theater Ditches Tradition for a World Theater Day Concert
Liepāja, Latvia – Get ready for a unique celebration of World Theater day! This year, Liepāja Theater is ditching the traditional ceremony and embracing the power of music with a special concert titled “Dzīres visiem viesiem” (Desires for all Guests) on March 27th, 2025.
Since 1961, theater professionals worldwide have marked World Theatre Day with various events honoring the art form.Liepāja Theater aims to make this year’s celebration inclusive and enjoyable for everyone,not just theater enthusiasts.
“We wanted to create an event that would resonate with a wider audience,” said director Roberts dauburs, who is curating the evening’s programme alongside playwright Kintija Stūre. “Music has a universal language, and we believe this concert will be a marvelous way to celebrate the spirit of theater.”
The concert boasts an impressive lineup of Latvian talent,including Agnija Dreimane,Karīna Tatarinova,Signe Dancīte,Kārlis Artejevs,Rolands Beķeris,Valts Skuja,and Edgars Pujāts. Guiding the audience through the evening will be the charismatic trio of Madara Kalna, Anda Albuže, and Anete Rimkus.

Mara: Hey Jonas, did you hear about what Liepāja Theater is doing for World Theater day this year?
Jonas: No, what’s happening?
Mara: Well, apparently they’re ditching teh usual ceremony adn throwing a concert!
Jonas: Really? that’s different! What’s the concert about?
Mara: It’s called “Dzīres visiem viesiem” which means “Desires for all Guests.” They’re trying to make it more inclusive and accessible for everyone, not just theater buffs like us.
Jonas: That’s a great idea! I bet it’ll attract a bigger crowd.
Mara: Totally! The director, Roberts Dauburs, said they wanted to do something that “resonated with a wider audience,” and he believes music is the perfect way to do that.
