Rapper Lil Durk, whose legal name is Durk Derrick Banks, remains held on bail following his arrest in October 2024 related to a 2022 shooting. His legal team alleged misconduct by a court reporter, claiming the reporter altered transcripts to portray Durk negatively.
According to court documents, durk’s attorneys, led by Kent Yanniello, presented evidence suggesting alterations to the transcripts of a preliminary hearing.Yanniello described the assertions as ”factually inaccurate.” Judge Fitzgerald ultimately upheld the original bail ruling, meaning Durk remains in custody pending trial. As of January 9, 2026, the bail ruling remains unchanged.
Durk’s 2022 Shooting Case Details and Potential Penalties
Lil Durk faces charges stemming from a shooting that occurred in Los Angeles in 2022, involving rapper Quando rondo. The shooting resulted in injuries to Rondo and the death of his cousin, Lul Pab.
Durk was arrested on October 19, 2024, by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and charged with attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder. If convicted, Durk could face a sentence of life imprisonment. The trial is currently scheduled to begin in late April 2026, contingent upon final judicial assignment by the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
