What Happened?
Rapper Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, was reportedly hospitalized on thursday, August 21, following an incident with law enforcement in Studio City, Los Angeles. According to the Rolling Stone, the Los Angeles Police Department responded to reports of a man walking down the street in his underwear at approximately 5:50 AM. when officers attempted to make contact, the man-identified by TMZ thru video footage-allegedly charged at them. He was afterward taken into custody and transported to a hospital for a possible overdose.
While the LAPD has not officially named the individual, the timing and circumstances, coupled with the video shared by TMZ, strongly suggest the incident involved Lil Nas X.Authorities have indicated he coudl still face criminal charges.
Recent Activity and Prior Health Concerns
The incident follows a period of unusual activity from the artist on social media. Just days prior, Lil Nas X deleted his entire Instagram history and rebranded his account as ‘QUEEN MADELINE’. He has since been posting artwork and snippets of what appears to be new music, fueling speculation about an upcoming project.
This latest event comes after Lil Nas X publicly addressed a health scare earlier this year. In April, he revealed he was experiencing partial paralysis on the right side of his face, attributing it to a loss of muscle control. He later reported regaining some movement and was advised to exercise his facial muscles.
The ‘DREAMBOY’ project
Lil Nas X’s recent musical output has been building towards the release of his highly anticipated album, ‘DREAMBOY’. He released the EP ‘Days Before Dreamboy’ in March via Columbia Records, featuring the singles ‘Light Again‘, ‘Need Dat Boy‘, and ‘Hotbox‘. ‘Days Before Dreamboy’ was positioned as a precursor to the full ‘DREAMBOY’ album, which has yet to receive a firm release date.
‘DREAMBOY’ will be Lil Nas X’s first full-length project since his critically acclaimed 2021 debut, ‘Montero‘, which spawned the chart-topping hits ‘Montero (Call Me By your Name)’ and ’Industry Baby’ featuring Jack Harlow.
