The release follows a last-minute scheduling change at Grant Park in Chicago. Lil Uzi Vert was slated to perform Friday evening, July 31, before headliner Charli XCX, but the set did not take place. Zara Larsson was moved into the vacated time slot to fill the gap in the lineup.
Lollapalooza issued an official statement attributing the cancellation to weather issues. NBC Chicago reported that the decision was tied to heavy rain and stormy conditions that affected the area throughout the day.
Maverick “Almost Forever” and Historical Timing
The cover art for the new EP features a depiction of a young Uzi alongside their grandmother. The timing of the July 31 drop mirrors a significant date in the artist’s discography. Exactly ten years prior, on July 31, 2016, Lil Uzi Vert released The Perfect LUV Tape.
That 2016 project debuted at No. 55 on the Billboard 200 and has since received a gold certification from the RIAA. The surprise nature of the new EP follows hints shared by the artist in mid-July, when an Instagram Story showed Uzi working on a studio project.

The birthday release adds to a career defined by significant commercial success in the hip-hop genre. Lil Uzi Vert has secured three No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200: Eternal Atake (2020), the deluxe reissue Lil Uzi Vert vs. the World 2 (2020), and Pink Tape (2023).
