Lille and OGC Nice played to a 0-0 draw in their Ligue 1 match on Saturday evening at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, with both teams failing to capitalize on recent momentum in the league standings.

The match, which kicked off at 21:05 local time, was the 30th round fixture of the 2025-2026 Ligue 1 season. Lille entered the game having won their previous three league matches, while Nice had been inconsistent in recent outings despite showing flashes of attacking promise.

Lille dominated possession and created several early chances, particularly through their wide play and quick transitions. However, Nice’s defensive organization held firm, with goalkeeper Marcin Bułka making key interventions to deny Lille’s forwards, including Jonathan David and Angel Gomes, who tested the Nice backline repeatedly in the first half.

In the second half, Nice grew into the game and began to threaten on the counter, with Terem Moffi and Jeremie Boga looking to exploit spaces left by Lille’s high defensive line. Lille goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier was called into action on multiple occasions, notably saving a low drive from Moffi in the 68th minute and tipping a curling effort from Boga over the bar in the 74th.

Despite periods of pressure from both sides, neither team managed to break the deadlock. Lille had the better of the chances particularly in the opening 30 minutes, but a lack of precision in the final third prevented them from converting their dominance into goals. Nice, while more restrained in attack, remained dangerous on the break and were unfortunate not to snatch a late winner.

The result leaves Lille in third place in the Ligue 1 table with 58 points, two behind second-placed Olympique de Marseille and eight behind league leaders Paris Saint-Germain. Nice remain in seventh place with 44 points, five points adrift of the European qualification spots held by Olympique Lyonnais in sixth.

Lille’s head coach Bruno Génésio acknowledged the missed opportunities but praised his team’s effort and defensive resilience. “We controlled the game and created enough to win, but we weren’t clinical enough,” he said in his post-match press conference. “Credit to Nice for making it difficult, but we should have taken our chances.”

Nice’s manager Francesco Farioli expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance, particularly their defensive discipline and ability to absorb pressure. “Coming here and getting a point against a team on a three-game winning streak is a good result,” Farioli said. “We defended well as a unit and had moments to win it, so I’m pleased with the mentality and organization.”

The draw means Lille will look to reset ahead of their next fixture, an away match against Stade Rennais, while Nice prepare to host Montpellier in their following league game. Both clubs remain in contention for European qualification, though consistency will be key in the final stretch of the season.
