Karate Kid: Legends,the⁤ latest installment in the action franchise,landed in third place at the domestic box office,trailing behind Disney’s ‍ Lilo & Stitch and Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. The film,starring Ralph Macchio,Jackie Chan,and Ben Wang,is​ the sixth in the Karate ‍Kid series and the first since ‌2010.

Lilo & Stitch, the live-action remake, exceeded expectations,‌ earning $182.6 million⁤ over ⁢the Memorial Day weekend across 4,410 North​ American theaters. Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning took in $77 million from 3,857 ⁣locations.

Karate Kid: Legends was projected to earn $20 million in its opening weekend from ​3,809 theaters, according to Deadline. Initial projections had estimated a‍ more robust $25 million to ‌$30‌ million opening for the Sony Pictures Entertainment‍ release. The film earned $2.3 million from Thursday preview screenings at ⁤3,050 locations.

Meanwhile, Lilo & Stitch is expected‍ to maintain its lead, possibly adding $60 million to its domestic total, ‍reaching $277 million by Sunday, Deadline reports. Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is projected to earn $27.3 million,bringing its domestic total to $122.6 million.

Final Destination Bloodlines, directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein, is projected to make $10 million in its third weekend, bringing its total to​ $110.9 million. The​ Warner Bros. horror ​thriller is expected to hold off A24’s Bring Her Back for the No. 4 spot. Deadline projects Bring Her Back will round out the top ⁤5 with $6 million to $7 ‌million.
