Lima Alliance News: Franco Navarro on Santamaría & Araujo
Alianza Lima’s Defensive Search Continues: Franco Navarro Eyes Reinforcements Amidst Transfer Setbacks
Lima, Peru - The quest for defensive solidity in Alianza Lima‘s squad for the Clausura of Liga1 Betsson 2025 is proving to be a challenging one, as confirmed by Sports Director Franco Navarro. In a recent press conference,Navarro revealed the club’s proactive efforts to bolster the backline, detailing discussions with key targets who ultimately opted for different paths.
Navarro Confirms Interest in Experienced Central defenders, Faces Transfer Hurdles
Franco navarro, a pivotal figure in Alianza Lima’s strategic planning, openly discussed the club’s ambition to bring in a central defender with both experience and national team pedigree. However, these aspirations have hit a snag, with two prominent players choosing to sign with rival clubs.
“Our intention was to incorporate one more central defender, with experience and selection level,” Navarro stated, highlighting the club’s clear objective. “But they made decisions to go elsewhere.”
Navarro specifically mentioned conversations with Anderson Santamaría and Miguel Araujo. Santamaría, it appears, has committed to a move to Universitario, while Miguel Araujo has made the decision to join Sporting Cristal. Navarro expressed his understanding of their choices, acknowledging Araujo’s roots within Alianza Lima. “We talked about Anderson Santamaría. At first, we talked to him, and he went to Universitario. And we talked to Miguel Araujo, who made the decision to go to Sporting Cristal. He thanked us,which seems to me an excellent boy, formed in Alianza Lima,” he concluded, reflecting on the missed opportunities.
Franco Navarro Confirms Interest in Kevin Serna’s Return
Shifting focus to offensive reinforcements, Franco Navarro also confirmed Alianza Lima’s keen interest in potentially bringing Kevin Serna back into the fold. The sports director indicated that discussions are underway, but the final outcome hinges on the player’s decision and the agreement with his current club, Fluminense.
“It is true that from the last games, he had no participation,” Navarro commented on serna’s current situation.”The one who made it public was his representative, who spoke with me and mentioned that ther was that opportunity.Instantly, when we found out about the news, we expedited everything so that he could come.”
Navarro was candid about the club’s desire to secure Serna’s services. ”It is clear that our intention is to incorporate him, but it does not depend on Alianza lima, but on the efforts made by his representative and Fluminense agreeing to give us a loan,” he explained, outlining the conditional nature of the potential transfer. The club is actively working to make this reunion a reality, pending the necessary approvals and player commitment.
