HansaWorld, a Limerick-based enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management software group, has agreed not to dismiss a director who has made serious allegations against its founder. Jennifer O’Carroll, the company’s chief operations officer, claims that chief executive and majority shareholder Karl Bohlin used company funds for personal expenses, specifically to support relationships wiht women he met through illicit websites.
According to O’Carroll, Bohlin prioritized finding a girlfriend starting in the spring, and directed company human resources to screen potential partners from various illicit websites. She alleges he then insisted on hiring these women, even if they were not qualified, and used company funds to lease homes for them in locations including China and Dubai.
Legal Proceedings and Court Undertakings
O’Carroll is seeking court orders to lift her suspension as director and company secretary and to prevent alleged interference in her role as chief operations officer. Last week, Mr. Justice Brian Cregan of the High Court granted her permission to serve proceedings on HansaWorld, with only O’Carroll’s legal team present at the initial request as reported by the Irish Times.
On Wednesday, Gary McCarthy SC, representing O’carroll, informed the court that the parties had agreed to adjourn the case to allow HansaWorld to file replying affidavits. As part of this agreement, HansaWorld has undertaken not to take steps to dismiss O’Carroll during this period. Lawyers representing HansaWorld are currently awaiting instructions regarding her removal as a director.
Next steps
The matter has been adjourned to November, according to reporting from the RTE. The court will revisit the case then,pending the filing of affidavits from HansaWorld.
