What visitors are saying

“TL;DR Signed up for subscription. No online option to cancel. Called in, got hung up on twice refusing to cancel my digital subscription. A bit more details: I recently signed up for a digital subscription with the Austin American-Statesman, but quickly decided I did not want it to renew in the future. When I tried to manage my account online, I discovered there was no option to make changes or cancel digitally. The only option provided was a phone number. When I called the next morning, the first representative I spoke with was unhelpful and then hung up on me without resolving my request. ”

“I signed up for a yearly subscription through the app store but ended up not wanting to resubscribe. When logging into my account it showed that I had no active subscription. BUT they kept charging me for a monthly unlimited subscription. This is unacceptable! What a sleezy practice, definitely canceled any thought in my mind of supporting this news paper.”

“Was there for the Hand built Motorcycle show. Pretty amazing to see so many custom built bikes, many were vintage and worth a lot of money. They had the guys riding that enclosed circle , that was really wild! I'm definitely going again next year.🏍️”

“I could see a class action lawsuit against this paper in the future. They don’t let you cancel, if you email they don’t respond and if you call they just hang up on you. There is no way to unsubscribe, what an awful unethical way to run a business. Charging someone’s card without their consent is literal theft, it boggles my mind that this company hasn’t been sued yet.”

— Julia Rose · ★☆☆☆☆

“Their content is fine, but never have I dealt with such awful customer service people. Two separate people hung up on me because I didn't know which of our many phone numbers (business account) were associated with our account. Finally, I got someone to agree to not hang up on me. He located my account by using the account number, which I was able and ready to provide. Turns out there was no phone number associated with my account, which either of those first two folks would hae been able to figure out - and remedy - if they had bothered to ask, rather than just hanging up.”

— Celest Couch · ★☆☆☆☆

“Poor customer service for online services. I was charged $98 for a service I don't remember signing up for and the customer service agents refused to help me stoo that payment. The "supervisor" I spoke to interrupted me and became aggressive when I asked where their call center was located. Please be careful signing up for trials. This should be illegal.”

— Paula H · ★☆☆☆☆

“Preys on the elderly with deceptive billing practices and cancellation is near impossible. Never again. Customer service condescending and unhelpful. Shame on this company.”

— Cullen Perry · ★☆☆☆☆

“Zach Dell, I saw you will be using this building for batteries storage. I just have a request. Please kick laz parking out of here as soon as you get a chance.”

— Sanjay Singh Negi · ★☆☆☆☆

“The newspaper is good but if you ever want to cancel your subscription, be prepared to answer 99 questions about why you want to cancel instead of respecting the customers time and decision. Will not be resubscribing because of this. Thanks Live Support Chat”

— Stephen Stone · ★★☆☆☆

“Just got hit with a $100 FINE for PARKING at what I thought was a free event. They also don’t have any traffic control so you can waste 30 minutes looking for parking where there is none. This is sketchy as hell, can’t believe how for a once great monument of Austin can fall.”
