What visitors are saying

“Prospect Park is truly one of New York’s hidden gems. Unlike the hustle and intensity of Manhattan, the park offers a calm, spacious, and beautifully designed escape right in the heart of Brooklyn. The atmosphere is lively but never overwhelming — families, joggers, cyclists, dog walkers, and nature lovers all share the space comfortably. The park’s landscape is stunning: wide open meadows, peaceful wooded trails, ponds filled with wildlife, and scenic bridges that make every corner feel unique. The Long Meadow is perfect for relaxing, Prospect Park Lake adds a serene vibe, and the Boathouse ”

“Better than Central Park. Great nature trails, unleashed dog hours, cafe called Winner, ice skating/roller skating rink, Audubon Society headquarters and the Brooklyn Bird Society, Farmers market on Saturdays, solid bike lanes and running lanes, no gimmicky street performances, no horses used to pull a carriage until they collapse, but horse stables exist for private lessons, free summer concerts/movies, Woodland Indigenous People 's trails, zoo with peacocks roaming free. Near Brooklyn Museum of Art, Grand Army Plaza and a slew of cafes, restaurants and shops in surrounding areas like Windsor”

“Prospect park is the Grand Central Park of Brooklyn, it has a little of everything, boating, ice skating rink in the winter, water park in the summer, a small pond to feed the ducks, a walking trail and a bike lane around the entire park. There’s also good parts and bad parts in the park, the immediate vicinity on the park is mostly filled with people who may consider that park home, the city could clean it up easily if it wanted to but they seemed to be fine with it since they dont contribute to any criminal activities. Otherwise its worth visiting on a daily basis with the kids.”

“Prospect Park is one of those rare places that feels almost enchanted—an escape so complete that you genuinely forget you’re standing in the heart of New York City. The moment you step beneath its canopy of towering trees or wander into the wide-open sweep of the Long Meadow, the noise, the rush, the density of the city simply fall away. What’s left is a serene, almost dreamlike landscape where time slows down and the mind can finally breathe. Designed by the same genius duo behind Central Park, Prospect Park feels even more intimate, more organic, more like a true retreat carved into the urb”

“Prospect Park is a true Brooklyn treasure and my favorite escape from the city bustle. I love starting with a walk around the loop, where you get a perfect mix of people-watching and peaceful nature. The lake by the Boathouse is absolutely gorgeous, especially in the fall. It’s great for a solo run, a family picnic, or just reading a book under a massive oak tree. While it can get busy on weekends, there’s always a quiet spot to find if you wander off the main paths. The only minor downside is that bathroom locations aren't always obvious, so plan ahead. Overall, it’s the heart of the communit”

“This park is very spacious, clean and perfect for walks or other family and friends activities or just looking to detach yourself from the busyness of city life. Its proximity to the train station and nearby cafes and restaurants make it attractive too. So if you’re visiting Brooklyn or looking for another alternative park other than Central Park, this is the place to be.”

“Absolutely love prospect park! It’s so beautiful and large. It has many pleasant areas to sit and watch people and animals. It’s super peaceful and serene. Wonderful bike and hiking trails. A must for natives and tourists alike:)”

“Very nice escape located centrally in Brooklyn. Walking through it you can experience peaceful rural areas, or see Brooklyn’s diversity in the more crooked areas. It’s a bit dirty in spots, and difficult to keep up with cleaning due to the amount of people that visit the park. Great for a run, bike ride, or simply to relax at. The restrooms are very limited, and only the one on the large building is somewhat passable. The other one on the west side near the playground is less cared for, as is the other two in the center and East side.”

“I visited a couple of weeks ago, right as fall color peaked. I grabbed a coffee and wandered the winding paths in Brooklyn: leaves crunching under my shoes, trees shifting from gold to deep red, and that crisp, clean air. There’s room for everyone—you can stroll by the water, sit on a bench, and watch the foliage reflect on the surface. What I liked most is how the city noise fades into the background, leaving just the wind and a few quiet conversations. There are big open lawns for relaxing and tucked-away corners if you want solitude. I spent a few hours there and left clear-headed—a perfect”

“Fantastic place to visit. Prospect Park is a hidden gem, away from the 'noise' of NYC. There is so much to see in and around the park area. It is calm and well designed, right in the heart of Brooklyn.”
