Daily Jefferson County Union in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin
Back to State
Description
The Jefferson County Union began in 1870 in Lake Mills and moved to Fort Atkinson in 1873. Founder William Dempster Hoard later launched Hoard’s Dairyman, a leading dairy magazine, and helped shift Wisconsin from wheat to dairy farming. The paper became a daily in 1946 and stayed in the Hoard family until 2018, when it was sold to Adams Publishing Group. It continues to serve Jefferson County, guided by Hoard’s motto: “The next issue will be our best.”
