What visitors are saying

“Great little gift/book/magazine shop. Super friendly staff.”

— Tess L · ★★★★★

“Great little book store packed with obscure finds, quirky items and a very artistic magazine selection. Late hours always a plus😋”

— Smevin Bravis · ★★★★☆ · 2019-2-2

“I have a formula for evaluating a bookstore which involves A: the number of books I know and like, B: the number of books I don't know but intrigue me, and C: the total number of items for sale. It can be expressed as k(A+B)/C, where k is a subjective constant based on staff affability and overall ambiance. The Daily Planet gets the highest score of any bookstore I've visited in Los Angeles, even disregarding the extremely high k. This place is a beautifully curated collection where every book is captivating. I bought a book on Harry Smith I didn't even know existed, and I have a mental list”

“One of the best, and my personal favorite, news stands in Los Angeles. A wonderful curation of books, gifts, and objects of the occult, The Daily Planet is a must visit.”

“This is one of those hidden gems in Los Angeles. Super friendly staff and the books they have are top notch. I wish I lived closer I would come here every day.”

— Baby Gorilla TV · ★★★★★

“I had a great time at the Daily Planet Book Store. The staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. They had a vast selection of books, making it hard for me to choose just one. The cozy environment and peaceful ambiance made my visit even more enjoyable. I will definitely be coming back here in the future.”

— Jessica Sullivan · ★★★★★

“I love what they offered. I purchased cards, books, and etc. the only thing that was offsetting was the staff. 3 people spread around the store having a very loud group conversation in the very small in a very absent minded way. Constantly had to slide behind staff members as they gossiped. They became engaged and “friendly” when I was ready to pay and leave. Very odd behavior, but I loved the store itself.”

“Awesome shop! I had such a hard time deciding what to buy, it all seemed so interesting. I asked the worker if they could give me any recommendations, and they were so willing to help me navigate the collection. I absolutely will return when next I’m in LA!”
