What visitors are saying

“There is a lot of Karens reviewing this station complaining about every little issue. I think the station is great! Very quiet, frequent service, and it's never too hot!”

— Brendan Halvey · ★★★★★

“It would be logical that the blue line should be extended to Charles/MGH station to be connected to the red line.”

— Alex Lubarsky · ★★★★★

“Bowdoin is clean and well lit, but it's a bit strange. Not very many people use it, especially on weekends, so it's often empty. It's safe, but the atmosphere is a bit weird.”

— Sam Koskie · ★★★★☆ · 2019-12-25

“The escalator in this station has been broken for so long that it is covered in leaves from PREVIOUS AUTUMNS (!!). Genuinely insane, it’s not that expensive or hard to fix an escalator”

— Michael Stankovich · ★☆☆☆☆

“I sure do love Bowdoin. I love getting off the train here in the middle of the night and walking over to Bowdoin city. The blue line should be called the Bowdoin line. Bowdoin should be called BOWDOIN (all caps!) I love how you can walk from here to government center by sneezing wrong. I LOVE BOWDOIN!!! (all caps again :3)”

— Theodore Gutwein · ★★☆☆☆

“no escalator (chained off) or elevator and multiple stairwells, without signage saying this end of line stop is not accessible. It links airport to city hall. Such lack of access for passengers with motor disabilities should be illegal, esp in front of Boston city hall. Shameful.”

— Farrah · ★☆☆☆☆

“Well lit, but inaccessible. Trains ending here open all doors, but Wonderland-bound trains you have to press a button next to the doors for the door to open. Only last 4 cars available for Wonderland bound trains here (platform too short). Station is in a bad location (Close to nearby Gov't Ctr, no reason not to use that instead). Potential closure when extension to Charles/MGH Red Line stop is built. Station design is also kinda ugly.”

— EamonBoy28 · ★★★☆☆

“It’s really a shame the escalator been down for years now , i saw a old lady limping suffering taking the stairs , i mean where is MBTA ? Are you guys sleeping or what are you doing literally ! Cuz If you were awake you would have fixed it ! Have some mercy”

— Dark Spirit · ★☆☆☆☆

“Older station, but it's clean. It's fun to press the button to open the doors. If I get to government center and the train to Wonderland looks too full, I will hop on the train to Bowdoin and then catch the train from there...ensures a seat every time. 😉”

— Tara Monuteaux · ★★★★★

“One of the last stations in operation that originally provided service to trolley cars in Boston. As a result, patrons are required to manually open train doors with an exterior button. Old but well maintained and clean compared to other station locations. Be advised, this station is NOT ADA accessible. If you require elevator access, the nearby Government Center station will be your point of entry for the MBTA train system.”

— John Hughes · ★★★★☆
