The New Journal and Guide is a trusted African-American-owned newspaper serving Virginia and beyond since 1900. As one of the oldest continuously published Black newspapers in the United States, NJG delivers in-depth news, opinion, culture, politics, health, and community coverage focused on empowering the Black community. Based in Norfolk, Virginia, we provide both weekly print editions and daily digital content, including podcasts, book reviews, and local event reporting. Our mission is to inform, uplift, and connect our readers while preserving the legacy of Black voices in journalism.
