What visitors are saying
“Going to UMaine has to be the worst decision I've ever made. The facilities are old and uncomfortable (about a billion dollars in deferred maintenance). The Bangor area is depressing with nothing to do. The academic standards are not as thorough as I'd expected so everybody just uses AI without consequences. The university has a problem with retaining professors in many departments, leading to a bad academic experience. The mathematics department is a good example where my professor resigned a week before classes started and his replacement was horrible. The school does a poor job at engaging ”

“If you want $45k of debt as a in-state student with nothing to show for, go here. Good luck even getting a printed diploma. All these reviews are from people who attended a couple shows at the Collin’s Center. Try attending as a student in the 2020s. I’m sure your five stars will change.”

“Home of the greatest college mens hockey fans. The new facility is amazing.”

“I've only gone to Umaine a few times, but it seems absolutely amazing. I definitely want to go there when I go into college, and I am very excited. My parents went there too, and they also had an amazing experience. My father did landscape horticulture, and my mother did physical education and teaching. I go there for homecoming with them, and I definitely recommend at least checking it out. (Also, good food.)”

“The dorms are a lot of fun here and everywhere that I have been on campus has been well maintained and clean. The food that you can find on campus is great too. I never attended class here, but I am sure that would be nice as well, I have heard great things.”
— Samantha Morris · ★★★★★
“Very great school with awesome opportunities for their students. College is suppose to be the launch pad for our future and it is up to us to make college beneficial. I think that the University of Maine gives their students all of the resources and opportunities to do great things! Proud to be a Black Bear!!! Go Blue!”

“The school gave me a great education, both in the class and outside. If you are looking at this school, know that you must get involved and actively engage in your own learning (this is for any school). The faculty and staff are wonderful people and dedicated to student learning. I loved my time there and it helped me on my own path.”
— Grant Batchelder · ★★★★★
“UMaine is a great school. Nearly every professor I had while working on my degree here was knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. My personal experience was with Engineering, which isn't a walk in the park by any means, but succeeding here lends itself to feeling extremely satisfied due to amount of support given to the students by the faculty. Campus is very nice and expansive, and is great to walk around on all times of the year (though, bundle up if it's the winter - Orono can get very cold!). It always feels lively, and there's always a ton of things going on that you can get involved with”
— Matt Robinson · ★★★★★
“Fun, great music as is usual. The Nutcracker is as phenomenal as ever. The BSO put on a beautiful performance as did the Robinsons Ballet performers. BAYC did their part nicely also. Over all, I cannot praise the performances highly enough. Always magical.”
