“I’ve been a member since 2019 and a customer since the store opened. I really like the employees. It’s higher-priced than the average grocery store, which I understand as it’s a co-op. I shop to support them and to keep co-ops going here in Chicago, although I mostly buy things from the bi-weekly sales. It’s nice that they also mark down items about to expire. The reduced produce section could be improved.”

“My mom discovered this co-op grocery and introduced me to it the very next day. She is a low-income senior but she's a smart lady! We know that most "cheap" groceries are mass-produced, unhealthy, full of pesticides, produced in exploitative working conditions, etc. Yes, some items here are pricey, but their staple items are fairly affordable. If you're on a budget, stick to those items. I love that WOM is community-owned, not a big corporate chain owned by a billionaire who just gets richer with every purchase. . . We immediately became owners/members! The store has a lovely, chill vibe (lo”

“Really nice local co op with a lot of vegan options I usually don't even find in others stores! Good looking grab and go meals too. Produce section is rather dire in the winter unfortunately but during other seasons there's a lot of local produce. Also a really nice bulk section. Can be on the pricey side”

“I've shopped at food co-ops ever since my college days at University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, enjoying the quality of the offerings, the whole idea of adding to the local economy, and the good feeling of being in the store.. I've been delighted to find those qualities in my newest go-to grocery co-op, Wild Onion Market, and I've become an owner because I want to be part of the store's longterm success. The photos included here show just a few of my many favorite, local products!”

“Excellent co-op grocery store with nice selection of local & organic items, friendly helpful staff, and a welcoming environment. Recently added some good new grab & go items in the deli area. Watch the flyers for frequent sales.”

“I am so excited the Wild Onion Market is open for business. As an owner for 10 years there has been a lot of work put in place for OUR store and the dream has come alive. I see there are some low star reviews and I understand the sentiment, but WOM is new and will have to learn along the way. Not everything works out at opening, but with time things will get better. I also understand the sentiment of pricing. I try to remember that while somethings may be less at Jewel, supporting the co-op takes away that money from someone that doesn't care about the community and puts it back in ours. If ”

“I love our local food coop! The staff and volunteers are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about local, sustainable food. It's great to have access to local products all year long--not just when the farmer's market is open. It feels good shopping somewhere that aligns with my values and puts people and the planet first.”

— Matt Vail · ★★★★★

“Love that this is one of only 2 co-ops in the city (and this one takes the cake, if you ask me). The staff are incredibly kind, the produce is intentionally sourced (local and organic whenever possible) and they make a commitment to telling the stories of the people who produce the items they sell.”

“I am so proud to be a part of the community effort opening this gem of a grocery store in Rogers Park. Count on excellent quality local produce, specialty healthy groceries, and sustainable bulk items like steel cut oats or bulk herbal teas sans packaging. The best part is knowing that you aren't spending your $ at a corporate owned entity ignoring workers rights and sustainability. #Shoplocal!”

“This feels like an attempt to gentrify the neighborhood. When I heard a grocery store was moving into this location I was so excited. This is in no way an affordable option for groceries for most of the people who live in this neighborhood, including myself. Woof. Edited to add: This seems to be for the rich white people in the neighborhood. This is a specialty market that doesn’t carry regular, every day staples at a reasonable price. I went in for ibuprofen and paper towel and left because the paper towel was crazy expensive and they don’t have ibuprofen. This is not a helpful market for th”
