When Little Theatre of Wilkes-Barre stages the Broadway hit “Come From Away” beginning Sept. 11, 2026, the community theater group is pairing its production with free admission for local first responders and military members, according to regional reporting. The musical recounts the real-life response of a remote Canadian town to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, and the community theater is opening the show on the 25th anniversary of those events, as reported by Standard-Speaker.

Ticketing and Special Community Performance Details

Firefighters, police, emergency medical personnel, veterans, and active-duty military members can secure complimentary admission through what organizers call “hero tickets” by contacting the box office at 570-823-1875, according to Standard-Speaker. To support these free admissions, the theater is actively collecting donations to cover the cost. Additionally, high school and college students carrying valid identification can attend a special student-only matinee on Sept. 20 for $5, a performance that will be followed by an interactive question-and-answer session with the cast. Standard tickets for the production are priced at $27.50 and can be purchased in advance through ltwb.org or by calling the box office. Performances will run across the weekends of Sept. 11-13 and Sept. 18-20, with showtimes scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. on Sundays. The venue is located at 537 N. Main St. in Wilkes-Barre.

Production Background and Creative Team

The musical focuses on the island of Newfoundland, where airspace closures on Sept. 11, 2001, forced dozens of commercial planes to make emergency landings, overwhelming local communities with stranded travelers. David Parmelee, general manager of Little Theatre, emphasized the uplifting nature of the production. It’s fun. The music is great, Parmelee said, as quoted by Standard-Speaker, noting that the show highlights Canadian hospitality as both a heartwarming tribute and an entertaining theatrical experience. The local staging is led by director Angel Berlane Mulcahy and music director Kimberly Johnson. The broader theatrical property has a substantial commercial history, having completed a 1,684-performance run on Broadway alongside widespread touring productions, according to Standard-Speaker.
