LIV Golf 2026: Equipment Changes & What’s in the Bag in Riyadh

RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA – The 2026 LIV Golf season is set to launch this week with the ROSHN Group LIV Golf Riyadh at Riyadh Golf Club and the event is already generating buzz not just for the competition between 57 players across 13 teams, but for a significant wave of equipment changes sweeping through the league. Several prominent players are debuting new gear as they begin the season.

DeChambeau Headlines Equipment Overhaul

Perhaps the most notable change comes from Bryson DeChambeau, who has confirmed a complete rebuild of his golf bag. While specifics were initially kept under wraps, it’s now confirmed that DeChambeau is starting the season with a new driver shaft – switching from a LA Golf Bad Prototype to a True Temper Project X D70. He described the change as a “meaningful performance change, not cosmetic,” signaling a deliberate effort to optimize his equipment for the year ahead. DeChambeau, a free agent in the equipment market, has the freedom to customize his bag entirely to his specifications.

Ancer Makes Putter Debut with Family-Owned Brand

Abraham Ancer is also making significant changes, opting for a Newton Motion 6 Dot driver shaft, replacing his previous Diamana GT 60 TX. More strikingly, Ancer will be using a Kevin Burns 9310 putter, marking the first time a Kevin Burns putter has been used on the LIV Golf tour. Kevin Burns, a family-owned manufacturer, was a prominent putter brand, ranking among the top five in putters in play from 1996-2003.

Garcia Switches Golf Ball and Putter

Sergio Garcia is making a dual change, moving away from the TaylorMade TP5 golf ball to Underground Golf. He’s also switching putters, replacing his Scotty Cameron Masterful Tour Type SSS with a Golfyr The Maker Tour. Underground Golf, founded by Garry Singer, Mark Wahlberg, and Doug Meijer, represents a new direction for Garcia’s equipment choices.

Pieters Restarts Season with New Irons and Shaft

Thomas Pieters is undertaking a complete iron reset, moving from Titleist 620 irons to Miura TC-202 irons. He’s also added a True Temper Project X Titan Black 70 driver shaft to his bag, signaling a comprehensive overhaul to start the season.

Rahm Debuts New Driver Model

Jon Rahm will be teeing off with a new driver head, switching from the Elite Triple Diamond to the Quantum Triple Diamond. This change indicates a desire to fine-tune his performance off the tee as the season begins.

Johnson Adds Mini Driver Option

Dustin Johnson is adding a new option to his bag with a switch to the Titleist GT280 mini driver, replacing his TaylorMade R7 Quad Mini Driver. This change is intended to provide a specific option for certain tee shots.

Hatton Changes 3 Wood

Tyrrell Hatton is also making a change, swapping his longtime PING G440 Max 3 wood for a TaylorMade Qi4D 3 Wood.
