DeChambeau, Kaymer Share Lead at LIV Golf virginia

Bryson DeChambeau and Martin Kaymer ended Friday tied for the lead at the LIV Golf Virginia event in Gainesville, Va., both carding a 5-under-par 66. DeChambeau’s impressive round at Robert trent jones Golf Club included a memorable eagle and birdie streak following a weather delay.
DeChambeau’s momentum surged with a chip-in eagle on the par-5 14th hole.He followed this with birdies on the subsequent two holes. His eagle shot involved a delicate chip that caught a slope, guiding the ball directly into the cup. On the par-4 16th, after missing the green, he chipped out of thick rough, again watching the ball find the hole.
Meanwhile, Marc Leishman secured a spot in the U.S. Open after tying for third at a qualifying event in Rockville, Md. He carried that momentum into Friday’s round, shooting a 67 and landing in a tie for third place.
Leishman shares third place with Phil Mickelson,Jon Rahm,Joaquin Niemann,Anirban Lahiri,and Graeme McDowell.
bubba Watson and Peter Uihlein, teammates on RangeGoats GC, along with Patrick Reed and Thomas Pieters of 4Aces, are tied at 3 under. In the team competition, RangeGoats GC leads at 9 under par, followed by 4Aces and DeChambeau’s Crushers GC.
DeChambeau is using the LIV Golf Virginia tournament as preparation for his title defense at next week’s U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club. He is among several LIV Golf members who received invitations or qualified for the major championship.
“Man, what’s nice is coming out into some soft conditions,” DeChambeau said. “that little chip shot became a hell of a lot easier for me… I hit it exactly where I wanted it to land, and it went right in the frickin’ hole.”

DeChambeau will head to Oakmont Country Club to defend his U.S. Open title, while other LIV golfers will also compete in the major championship.
