The incident resulted in 27 hospitalizations and the arrest of a 53-year-old man,according too police. The Liverpool football fans were celebrating the team’s record-tying 20th top-flight title.
Emergency services, including an air ambulance, responded to the scene on Water Street after reports of multiple pedestrians struck. The incident unfolded amid tens of thousands of fans who gathered to celebrate Liverpool’s first league title since 2020, a victory previously muted by pandemic restrictions.
Harry Rashid, who attended the parade with his family, described the harrowing scene. “It was extremely fast,” Rashid said. “Initially, we just heard the pop, pop, pop of people just being knocked off the bonnet of a car.” He added that after the initial impact,the driver accelerated again,continuing through the crowd.
Prime Minister keir Starmer acknowledged the incident.He expressed his concern and gratitude for the swift action of law enforcement. “The scenes in Liverpool are appalling — my thoughts are with all those injured or affected,” Starmer said.

Rashid recounted the crowd’s reaction after the initial impact. “But then he put his foot down again and just plowed through the rest of them, he just kept going,” Rashid said. “It was horrible. And you could hear the bumps as he was going over the people.” He expressed shock, suggesting the act appeared intentional.
“My daughter started screaming and there were people on the ground,” he said. “They were just innocent people, just fans going to enjoy the parade.” The inquiry into the incident is ongoing.
