Man⁤ Charged‌ After ​Liverpool Parade Incident Injures dozens

A ⁢man from Britain has been charged‌ with causing grievous bodily harm after a car drove into a crowd celebrating liverpool’s Premier League title victory. The incident ⁣during the victory parade injured nearly 80⁣ people.

Paul Doyle, 53, from Liverpool’s⁤ West Derby area, ⁣appeared in‍ court Friday. He faces seven charges, including dangerous driving and two ⁢counts of causing grievous ‌bodily harm‌ with intent. The Liverpool parade, celebrating the Premier League title, turned chaotic when the incident occurred.

During⁤ the hearing at Liverpool ⁤Magistrates’ ‍Court, Doyle⁢ confirmed ⁤his ‌personal details. Prosecutor Philip Astbury stated that‍ the charges ⁤stem from events ​around 6 ⁤p.m. on ⁢May⁢ 26. Astbury ‌told ‍the court‌ that the prosecution‍ asserts Doyle‍ deliberately drove into the‍ crowd as people were leaving the waterfront after the Liverpool parade.

Doyle was remanded⁤ in custody for a later hearing at Liverpool​ Crown Court. He⁢ was not asked to‍ enter ⁣a plea.

The incident⁣ occurred in Liverpool’s‌ city center on Monday evening. An estimated one million people gathered ‌to celebrate Liverpool’s ⁢title win ⁣and watch the team’s open-top ‌bus parade with​ the ⁤trophy. The Liverpool parade, meant⁤ to celebrate a ‌victory, was marred by⁤ the grievous bodily harm caused.

Police have ‌stated that the incident was isolated and ​not related to terrorism. As of Thursday ‍evening,‌ seven people remained hospitalized in⁤ stable ⁤condition.
