Barcelona’s Luis Díaz bid fails as winger considers Liverpool future

Liverpool turned down an approach from Barcelona for winger Luis Díaz, sources confirmed.The Premier League club has made it clear they intend to keep the Colombian international, despite the player acknowledging he is weighing his options this summer.
Díaz, 28, has become a primary target for Barcelona. The Spanish club also has Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford in mind.
Liverpool signed Díaz from FC Porto in January 2022 for £37.5 million ($50.9 million). He played a notable role in their Premier League title this season,scoring 13 league goals,second only to Mohamed Salah.

While Liverpool may offload Darwin Núñez, head coach Arne Slot wants Díaz to remain. The club feels no pressure to entertain offers for the player.
Díaz addressed the transfer rumors at a news conference before Colombia’s match against Peru, stating he is happy at Liverpool but is considering his future.
“Obviously I am very happy at Liverpool. I have always said that. From the first day I arrived I was always well received. Now we are in contact with them because obviously we are speaking to clubs. This is normal because the transfer market is open and we are trying to see what is the best for us,” Díaz said.
“As I said, I am only waiting to see if it can be done. If Liverpool offers me a good contract renewal or if I have to stay for the two years I have remaining with them,I will be happy and content. It all depends on them. I am here to decide and to see what is best for us and my future.”

Liverpool is reportedly still pursuing Bayer Leverkusen forward Florian Wirtz. Clubs can make transfers until June 10, before the window reopens from June 16 to September 1.
