She launched into “About Damn Time” accompanied by more than a dozen dancers and a burst of fireworks, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a Super Bowl halftime show. Lizzo’s roots in Houston run deep; she attended and played in the band at both Alief Elsik High School and the University of Houston. She has often spoken about discovering her voice in hip-hop while living in the city.
