Local Hockey Teams Dominate, Claim Top Spots in MVCHA
Freeburg-Waterloo and Columbia High Schools are leading their respective divisions in teh Mississippi Valley club Hockey Association (MVCHA) as the regular season heats up.

The Freeburg-Waterloo Raging Bulldogs, currently sitting at 8-3-1, hold the top spot in Varsity 2A, narrowly edging out O’Fallon.
“We’ve been playing well as a team,” said Coach [Coach’s Name]. “The boys are working hard and it’s showing on the ice.”
The Raging Bulldogs have showcased their offensive firepower in recent games. They secured a decisive 10-2 victory over East alton-Wood River on Monday,with Braden Neff and Austin Hopfinger each contributing two goals and an assist. Layne Wilkens also netted two goals in the win.
Despite a valiant effort,the Raging Bulldogs fell too Collinsville 7-6 on Thursday,despite a standout performance from Ryder Neff who tallied two goals and two assists. Earlier in the week, they defeated Collinsville 6-4, with Ryder Neff again leading the charge with two goals and an assist. Hopfinger added a goal and two assists in that contest.
The Raging Bulldogs face a challenging stretch ahead, taking on Edwardsville, Granite City, and Edwardsville again in the coming week.
Meanwhile, in Varsity 1A, the Columbia Eagles are soaring high, holding a 6-2-1 record and the top spot, just ahead of Belleville.
“Our guys are playing with a lot of heart and determination,” said Coach [Coach’s Name]. “We’re focused on improving every game and making a strong playoff push.”
The Eagles soared to a 6-3 victory over Alton on Monday, fueled by Kraig Spisak’s two goals. Jack Reuss and Cooper Reuss each contributed a goal and two assists.
Jack Reuss has been a force to be reckoned with this season, racking up 20 goals and four assists, placing him among the MVCHA’s leading scorers.
Though, the Eagles faced a setback on Thursday, suffering a 4-0 loss to Highland.
Columbia will look to bounce back this week with games against Triad, East Alton-Wood River, and a crucial matchup against O’Fallon.
