Locked Out: Dong Zhiying’s Academic Experience Association Registration Rejected Amid Password Reset Controversy
Yan Chai Hospital Tung Chi-ying Memorial Secondary School’s Late Registration Application Rejected
The Hong Kong Academic Sports Association (Academic Sports Association) held a special meeting yesterday afternoon to discuss Yan Chai Hospital Tung Chi-ying Memorial Secondary School’s late registration application for academic events. After discussion and reference to similar cases in the past, it was unanimously agreed not to accept the school’s late registration application.
The Student Experience Association stated that it had processed the school’s application to reset the online registration system in mid-August and received a confirmation email from the school. Therefore, it believes that the school can log in to the online system and process the registration.
The Student Sports Association emphasized the need to maintain the fairness of the competition system and reiterated that Yan Chai Hospital Tung Chi-ying Memorial Secondary School had not been suspended. The school can still register for other categories and competitions that have not yet closed for registration.
The school’s principal, Huang Youjie, admitted his mistake, saying that the retired director of physical education did not complete the handover and was not cooperative, resulting in the school’s failure to register for all Group A academic projects this school year. Huang Youjie and his students cried many times during the sharing session, hoping that the students would handle the incident appropriately.
Many Yan Chai Hospital Tung Chi-ying Memorial Secondary School football team members attended the sharing session. It is reported that the team has many students with Hong Kong Super League experience or members of the Hong Kong Football Youth Corps joining this school year.
Background of the Incident
In July, all member schools in the New Territories area were notified by mail and fax of the registration arrangements for this year’s competition, and the relevant information was also uploaded to the website. During the period of accepting online registration from July 22 to September 2, the association was in close contact with all member schools to ensure that all member schools can effectively handle registration matters.
The Student Experience Association received an application to “reset the online registration system login password” signed by Principal Dong Zhiying on August 13. The Student Experience Association processed it on the same day and received a confirmation email from the school, so it is believed that the school can log in to the system and process the registration.
Impact on the School
Yan Chai Hospital Tung Chi-ying Memorial Secondary School will miss this year’s Group A school competition due to the late registration. The school held a “Voice Sharing Meeting for Football Students and Parents” on campus to explain the ins and outs of the incident.
The Student Experience Association hopes that the school can face the situation proactively, create other opportunities for students, calm down as soon as possible, and return to study routines. The association will continue to hold academic sports competitions in a fair and open manner.
