The Evolution of a Productivity Staple
For many, using a Logitech MX master mouse feels like an extension of the hand – a perfectly molded cradle for long workdays. The MX Master 3 has become so ingrained in the workflows of professionals that users are still clinging to aging models, even as they show their wear. Now, Logitech appears poised to deliver the update many have been waiting for: the MX Master 4.
Leaked Images Reveal a Familiar Design
Reliable tech leaker Evan Blass shared an image of what is believed to be the MX Master 4 on X (formerly Twitter) on August 17, 2025. The design appears remarkably similar to its predecessors, the 2017 MX Master 3 and the 2022 MX Master 3S. Blass noted that a mint green accent around the thumb groove seen in the leaked image is highly likely “illustrative” and won’t appear in the final product – a slight disappointment for those hoping for a more distinct aesthetic.

Confirmed, But Quietly
Logitech hasn’t been entirely subtle about the upcoming release. The mouse appeared in promotional materials for back-to-school sales. Moreover, Technoblog first reported in May 2025 (via 9to5Mac) that the MX Master 4 had received Bluetooth certification in Brazil. Images shared by users on Reddit also confirmed the design thru Logitech’s own Instagram teasers.
Subtle Refinements, Not a revolution
the MX Master 4 appears to be an evolution, not a revolution. the seven-button layout, metallic top, and side scroll wheels remain consistent with previous models. However, ther are subtle changes: the side scroll wheel has been repositioned slightly, and the thumb rest features a new texture. The durability of this new texture is yet to be determined, but Logitech will likely aim for a more robust material to withstand years of use.
Under the Hood: Performance Enhancements
The MX Master 3S improved upon the original with an increase in DPI from 4,000 to 8,000, enhancing precision. However, one area where the MX series has lagged behind is polling rate – currently at 125Hz. High-end gaming mice, such as the Razer Deathadder V4 Pro, boast polling rates up to 8,000Hz. While the average user may not perceive the difference, a higher polling rate (like the 1,000Hz offered by Razer’s Pro Click V2) could offer a more responsive experience for demanding tasks.
| Mouse | Max DPI | Polling Rate |
|---|---|---|
| logitech MX master 3S | 8,000 | 125Hz |
| Razer Deathadder V4 Pro | 32,000 | 8,000Hz |
| Razer Pro Click V2 | 16,000 | 1,000Hz |
Price and Availability
While an official launch date and price remain unconfirmed, it’s unlikely the MX Master 4 will be significantly cheaper than the current $100 MX Master 3S. Ongoing global supply chain disruptions, exacerbated by factors like Trump tariffs, are likely to contribute to maintaining or even increasing the price point.
