Dubbed “six Columns,” the brick residence, designed by 31/44 Architects, captivated the judges with its unique approach to versatility and adaptability. The home features a series of interconnected spaces that can be easily reconfigured to accommodate changing lifestyles.
“This house is a triumph of thoughtful design,” said RIBA President Simon Allford. “It’s not just gorgeous to look at, but it’s also incredibly practical and future-proof. The way the spaces flow together and can be adapted to different needs is truly remarkable.”
Six Columns, a nod to the six supporting columns that define the home’s structure, boasts a striking 1950s-inspired aesthetic. The architects cleverly incorporated exposed brickwork, large windows, and a minimalist interior to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.The home’s adaptability is evident in its open-plan living area, which can be easily transformed into separate zones for dining, working, or relaxing. Sliding doors and movable partitions allow homeowners to customize the space according to their needs.”We wanted to create a home that could grow and change with the family,” explained a spokesperson for 31/44 Architects. “The design allows for endless possibilities, ensuring the house remains relevant and functional for years to come.”
