A house fire in the Stonebridge ‍area of Brent, north-west London, has ⁢claimed the ‌lives of four‍ people.The Metropolitan Police identified the victims as Nusrat Usman, 43, ‌and her children Maryam Mikaiel, 15, Musa Usman, 8, and Raees Usman, 4. The tragic incident,which gutted two homes on Tillett Close,occurred early Saturday.

A 13-year-old girl from the same family is in critical condition,while a 71-year-old⁤ woman,also a relative,has been discharged from the hospital after receiving treatment ‌for injuries ​sustained in the fire. Authorities have ​arrested​ a⁣ 41-year-old ​man in connection ‌with the incident;‍ he remained in custody as of ‌Sunday afternoon. The cause of the Stonebridge fire remains under investigation.

The ⁤community is in mourning, with neighbors leaving floral tributes​ and‌ a ⁤teddy bear near the scene. ‍Residents described the family as being of Pakistani origin‌ and long-time residents of Tillett Close. Firefighters⁣ rescued the mother and one of her children ⁤from ​the second ⁢floor; though, air ambulance personnel pronounced⁣ them dead⁤ at the scene. The bodies of the other two children were discovered ⁤inside the property as crews battled the⁣ blaze.

Cecilia‍ Marquis, 60, a neighbor who works as a caterer at Brentford FC, expressed her ⁣shock. She said she was ⁣“stunned by the devastation” of ‍the fire, adding, “This will leave a devastating ​impact.”

Supt.‍ Steve Allen, ‍from the Met’s local policing ⁤team in north-west London, said, “Despite the efforts ​of the emergency ‍services, I can confirm a woman and three of her children⁢ died ​at the scene.”

Allen added that‌ the police are supporting the family during this difficult time and​ acknowledged the significant impact on the community.
