London Named World’s Best City for 2025: New Rankings Unveiled

November 21, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor World

London Tops World’s Best Cities 2025 Ranking

London has been named the best city in the world for the tenth consecutive year in the 2025 World’s Best Cities ranking. New York and Paris follow closely behind. Indian cities, like Mumbai and Delhi, did not make the top 100 globally, though they ranked in the top 20 in the Asia-Pacific region.

The rankings come from Resonance Consultancy, in partnership with Ipsos. This year’s report used perception-based data from over 22,000 people across 31 countries. The report highlights a strong desire for people to live, visit, and work in the world’s major cities.

Chris Fair, CEO of Resonance Consultancy, noted that while Mumbai and Delhi have strengths, they also face challenges in livability compared to other cities.

The ranking assesses cities based on three criteria: “livability,” which looks at the quality of environments; “lovability,” which evaluates life quality in culture and dining; and “prosperity,” which measures human capital and business support.

Laura Citron, CEO of London & Partners, emphasized London’s appeal through its attractions, financial sector, and growing tech industry. She highlighted the city’s diversity as a key driver of innovation and opportunity.

The top ten cities include:

  1. London (UK)
  2. New York (US)
  3. Paris (France)
  4. Tokyo (Japan)
  5. Singapore
  6. Rome (Italy)
  7. Madrid (Spain)
  8. Barcelona (Spain)
  9. Berlin (Germany)
  10. Sydney (Australia)

The United States leads with 36 cities in the top 100, while Canada has six. Cape Town and Rio de Janeiro are notable new entrants to the ranking.

Jason McGrath, Executive Vice President at Ipsos, stated that combining public perception with rigorous evaluations helps better understand city attractions and reputations. The analysis shows the strength and resilience of major cities worldwide.
