The Dutch rider, representing SD Worx-Protime, showcased her dominance by winning stage 3 and securing crucial points at the intermediate sprint, ultimately overtaking Marianne Vos (Visma-Lease a Bike) in the points classification.
Wiebes’ Sprint Dominance and Strategic Points gain
The battle for the green jersey intensified during stage 3, with Wiebes and Vos, a two-time winner of the Tour de France Femmes green jersey, fiercely contesting points. While a breakaway group secured the maximum points on offer, the intermediate sprint in Vern-d’Anjou became a pivotal moment.Wiebes, despite not making the green jersey her primary objective, was resolute to prevent Vos from accumulating further points.
“At the intermediate sprint, it’s not sprinting all-out. I saw marianne was about to do it, so I also whent. We made quite a short sprint, so that was okay,” Wiebes commented, highlighting the strategic nature of the sprint. This tactical move, combined with her stage victory, saw Wiebes amass 63 points, enough to snatch the green jersey from Vos.
Vos Secures Yellow Jersey Amidst Team Tactics

SD Worx-Protime, though perhaps not targeting the overall victory, remains a strong contender with Van der Breggen positioned seventh just 21 seconds behind Vos.
The team’s efforts in chasing down breakaways, as mentioned by Wiebes, demonstrate a commitment to supporting their leaders and contesting stages. “I hope that the girls recover a bit for tomorrow. If you need to chase with four riders, they chased more than 100km, it will be a hard day for them. I know this gives them a lot of motivation to keep on doing this,” Wiebes added, acknowledging the team’s hard work.
