Lorenzo Senni Announces First Album in Six Years All Ages

Electronic producer Lorenzo Senni will release his first album in six years, titled All Ages, on November 20 through Warp, stereogum.com reported. The Italian producer adopts a spirit of internal revolt on the upcoming eleven-track LP, which follows his record Scacco Matto, according to pitchfork.com.

Lead Single Features Contrasting Skateboarding Figures

The album’s lead single, Art Life & Skateboarding, sets an urgent, dramatic trance beat to spoken passages delivered by American skateboarders Chad Muska and Jamie Thomas. Senni deliberately selected those two figures to contrast opposing cultural poles within a single subculture, noting that Muska was once known as a party animal while Thomas follows a straightedge lifestyle. They have opposite characteristics within something I love, skateboarding, Senni stated in a press release quoted by stereogum.com and pitchfork.com. It makes for a beautiful encounter.

Vocal Collaborations and Hardcore Influences

All Ages marks the first time Senni has featured guest vocals in his discography. Alongside the skaters on the opening track, Xiu Xiu’s Jamie Stewart contributes to the fifth track on the record, titled La Persuasione e La Rettorica. Senni explained that his musical direction for the LP was shaped by the directness of hardcore. In electronic music, there is a lot of modulation in between parts, like a teasing, but in hardcore, it’s three drumstick strikes on a snare, or a strum of a bassline, and then you’re straight into it, you know? Senni stated in a press release detailed by pitchfork.com. The lights in the room are on. Everything is visible and everyone commits to the action quickly.

Festival Appearances and Upcoming Performance Schedule

Alongside the album announcement, Senni is preparing for a series of live festival dates in the coming weeks. His scheduled performances include slots at the C2C festival in Turin as well as appearances at Unsound’s flagship festival in Poland and its London edition in November, pitchfork.com reported.
