Three Dead, Seven Injured After Car Crashes Into Los Angeles Grocery Store

Three people have died and seven others sustained serious injuries after a car crashed through the front of a 99 Ranch Market grocery store in the Westwood neighborhood of Los Angeles on Thursday, February 5, 2026. The incident occurred at approximately 12:10 PM Pacific Standard Time (8:10 PM GMT), according to reports.

Authorities responded to the scene on Westwood Boulevard near Rochester Avenue, where they found multiple casualties. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) described the event as a “vehicle into structure” incident. Firefighters worked to extract individuals who were trapped under the vehicle, according to LAFD Spokesperson Lyndsey Lantz.

“Ten total patients identified at this scene; seven patients are being transported to a local hospital,” the LAFD stated. “Three total people have been determined beyond medical help and deceased on scene.” Demographic information regarding the victims and the precise circumstances surrounding the crash remain unconfirmed as of this reporting.

Initial reports indicate the vehicle was driven by an elderly woman, who remained at the scene following the collision. The car reportedly struck pedestrians outside the store before entering the building. Three of the seven injured individuals are reported to be in serious condition, while two others sustained minor injuries.

Pictures from the scene show a silver sedan inside the front of the grocery store. Emergency services established a triage area near the store to treat the injured. At least seven ambulances, four fire engines and one fire truck were dispatched to the location, alongside a significant presence of Los Angeles Police Department officers.

Two blocks of Westwood Boulevard, from Wilkins Avenue to Wellworth Avenue, were closed to traffic, along with the intersecting block of Rochester Avenue, as emergency personnel worked at the scene. The closures caused significant disruption to local traffic flow.

The 99 Ranch Market is a popular grocery store catering to the Asian community in Los Angeles. The incident has prompted a large-scale emergency response and is likely to have a significant impact on the local community. Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
