A Night to Remember, Now Preserved for Fans

Indie-pop favorites Los Campesinos! have released⁣ *So Close to Heaven (Live at ⁣Troxy)*, a vibrant document of their two-night residency at london’s Troxy in ⁢February. The album isn’t just a recording; ⁤it’s a re-creation ⁢of the energy and intimacy⁣ of those performances, amplified by a stellar lineup of guest musicians.

At a Glance

  • Artist: Los Campesinos!
  • Album: *So Close to Heaven (Live at Troxy)*
  • Recorded: February 2025 at the Troxy, London
  • release Date: August ‌20, 2025
  • Availability: Currently exclusive to Bandcamp and The peasants!‌ Website;⁣ wider digital release August 27.

The live experience was ⁤enriched by the talents of holly Carpenter (violin), Blossom Caldarone (cello), Emma Johnson (saxophone), Ewan Whyte (trumpet), and Viva Msimang (trombone). These additions⁤ clearly elevated the sound, and the album aims to translate that dynamic to listeners at home. The recording process itself was a collaborative effort, helmed by ⁢Paul Rattcliff and Mathew Acreman, with mixing by Gareth‍ Bodman and mastering by Andrei Eremin.

A Return ⁤to Form and a Look Back

The release⁢ of *So Close to Heaven* follows a period of creative resurgence for Los Campesinos!. Last year saw the⁢ band’s triumphant return ‌with *All Hell*, ‍their first full-length album since ‌2017. They quickly followed that up with the companion ⁢EP, *More Hell*, demonstrating a renewed momentum and commitment to their craft. ⁢This live album feels like a natural extension of that energy, offering fans a fresh viewpoint on familiar favorites and a taste‍ of the band’s captivating live show.

Los⁣ Campesinos! have always excelled at capturing a specific emotional landscape – a blend of youthful exuberance, self-deprecating humor, and genuine vulnerability. *So Close to Heaven* doesn’t just preserve a performance; it distills the essence of what makes this band so compelling. The decision to release a live album so soon after their studio work suggests a⁤ desire to connect with their audience⁢ on a more immediate ‍and visceral level, and ‌to showcase the evolution of their sound in a live setting.

Where to Listen and what’s Next

For now, *So Close to Heaven (Live⁣ at Troxy)* is⁣ available exclusively on Bandcamp and through The peasants! Website. Fans eager to stream ⁤the album on their preferred ⁣platforms will have to wait until Wednesday,August 27,when it will be released more widely.⁤
