LOVB Austin advanced to the LOVB Championship after defeating LOVB Atlanta in a golden set on April 11, 2026. The deciding match took place at Freedom Hall in Louisville, Kentucky, as part of the League One Volleyball semifinal series.
Under the league’s postseason structure, the semifinals consist of two-set series. If the teams split the matches, a golden set played to 15 points is used to determine which team advances. LOVB Austin secured their place in the championship by winning the golden set 15-8.
Match Two and the Golden Set
The progression to the golden set followed a tightly contested second match on April 11, 2026. LOVB Atlanta, the number two seed, won the match to tie the series after having lost the opening match on April 10.
Atlanta took the first set 25-23, followed by Austin winning the second 25-19. Atlanta regained the lead in the third set 25-22. The fourth set was the most competitive of the night, featuring six deuce points, eight lead changes and 18 tie scores. Austin eventually closed out the fourth frame 31-29 after needing seven set points.
Atlanta clinched the fifth set 15-11, which secured the match victory and forced the golden set. During this fifth set, Atlanta opposite Ivonee Montaño established two new league records. The Colombian national team athlete finished the match with 31 kills and 35 points, both of which are new League One Volleyball bests. Montaño also recorded 14 digs, two blocks, and hit .306.
It’s different because of the loss, but I’m taking the good things we did during the season. I never played six sets in one day, and I’m proud of our team, the way they fought, the improvement throughout the season, and all the times where we … showed a lot of effort.

Match One Performance
The series began on April 10, 2026, with LOVB Austin, the number three seed, delivering a sweep against Atlanta. Austin won the first match in three sets: 25-21, 25-20, and 25-21.

Austin controlled the match from the start, hitting .370 as a team. Setter Carli Lloyd managed the offense with 36 assists, while contributing 11 digs and four points. The team finished with 58 kills and maintained a .546 attack percentage during key segments of the match.
Several players led the offensive effort for Austin in the opener:
- Logan Eggleston recorded 13 kills.
- Madisen Skinner contributed 11 kills.
- Madi Banks added 10 kills.
- Molly McCage recorded eight kills with a .800 hitting percentage.
- Asjia O’Neal provided seven kills and three blocks.
Austin established early leads in the first two sets, with O’Neal closing the first frame with a slide kill. While Atlanta attempted a late rally in the second set, Austin maintained its cushion to win 25-20.
Real proud of the way we showed up and competed. I think this was one of, if not the best match we played this season. It was the most complete for sure.
