Love Again: Lee Yong-dae’s Daring Decision to Remarry 5 Years After Divorce – But What About His Daughter
Lee Yong-dae Opens Up About Remarriage on ‘My Little Old Boy’
Former national badminton team player Lee Yong-dae has revealed his thoughts on remarriage. In the preview for next week’s episode of SBS’s ‘My Little Old Boy’ that aired on the 15th, Lee Yong-dae, who worked as a badminton commentator for the 2024 London Olympics, appeared.
When a student asked, “Have you ever thought about a second marriage? Getting married again,” Lee Yong-dae expressed his thoughts, saying, “I need to get remarried quickly or build a stable family.” He then confided, “And I have a child. If I get married again, what will my daughter think of the person I meet?” and his mother was surprised that ‘the person I meet’ was emphasized.
Lee Yong-dae and actress Byun Soo-mi got married in 2017 after dating for six years and had a daughter the following year. The couple appeared on TV shows and showed their happy relationship, but they separated and divorced after about a year of marriage.
At the time, Lee Yong-dae stated his position, “I think it’s due to discord and personality differences that divorced couples usually experience.” However, BJ Han Mi-mo later filed a complaint against Byun Soo-mi on charges of arranging prostitution and habitual gambling, drawing attention once again.
BJ Han Mi-mo claimed that Byun Soo-mi, with whom she was close, forced her into prostitution with entertainment CEO A and helped him habitually gamble in Manila, Philippines by coercing him. In response, Byun Soo-mi denied the claims, saying “BJ Han Mi-mo’s claim of arranging prostitution is not true at all and is like a story.”
