Lovestruck in the City Makes a Successful Debut at the Toronto International Film Festival
The official screening of the movie ‘Lovestruck in the City’ was a great success with the Q&A session with director Lee Eun-hee, Kim Go-eun, and Noh Sang-hyun.
‘Lovestruck in the City’ is a film about the love between Jae-hee (Kim Go-eun), a free spirit, and Heung-soo (Noh Sang-hyun), who is used to keeping his distance from the world, as they live together and enjoy their unique love. It is based on the 2019 novel of the same name by Park Sang-young.
The film was first revealed to movie fans around the world through a world premiere at the Royal Alexandra Theatre on the 13th (local time). The excitement that filled the 1,100-seat auditorium was a testament to the interest in the film. Director Lee Eun-hee, Kim Go-eun, and Noh Sang-hyun attended the Q&A session held on the 13th and 14th and talked with global movie fans.
Kim Go-eun said, “As you delve into the character’s inner self, there are many vulnerable aspects and wounds. I think I was really drawn to Jae-hee’s actions in order to hide those things. I thought I wanted to express it well myself,” revealing the reason she took on the role of Jae-hee.
Noh Sang-hyun said, “The process of how Heung-soo’s shortcomings are overcome with courage after meeting Jae-hee was interesting. The script was also written honestly, plainly, and charmingly, which drew me in.”
Regarding the differences from the original work, the director explained, “Unlike the original novel, I adapted it in a way that shows Jae-hee and Heung-soo living their own lives in a balanced way when they look at each other.”
The movie ‘Lovestruck in the City’ will be released in theaters on October 1st.
