The 9th London Asian Film Festival concluded its 12-day journey and closed on the 3rd (local time), the Executive Committee announced on the 6th.
Among the 10 films that entered the competition category, the Best Picture award went to the Hong Kong film ‘Love Lies’ directed by Ho Miuki. It is a work that reflects the complex nature and loss of human relationships in modern society, and was praised for its directing and lead actress Sandra Ng (Wu Jun-lu)’s performance that left a deep impression.
The Jury Mention Award went to the Taiwanese film ‘Dead Talent Society’ directed by John Su. This work, which is a horror/comedy genre, received attention for its humorous interpretation of a sharp and deep topic.
Awards and Recognition
Run Da-hua (任達華, Lim Dal-hwa) was selected as the winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award. He is also the lead actor in the closing film ‘Little Red Sweet’ and is one of Hong Kong’s leading actors who has appeared in over 150 films including ‘Blood and Blood’, ‘Black Society’, and ‘Ip Man’.
This year’s London Asian Film Festival introduced works from various Asian countries, including Korea, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
Director Lee Jong-pil’s ‘Escape’ was screened as the opening film, and Lim Ji-yeon of ‘Revolver’ won the best actress award at the opening ceremony.
