MANILA, Philippines – Residents across parts of the Philippines are advised to prepare for rain on Wednesday, as the southwest monsoon, locally known as ‘habagat,’ continues to influence the weather, coupled with a low-pressure area (LPA) situated off the southeastern coast of Luzon. The philippine Atmospheric,Geophysical and astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) issued the advisory, highlighting the potential for notable weather developments.
LPA poised to Become Tropical Depression ‘Crising’
Pagasa’s early morning forecast indicates a strong likelihood that the LPA will intensify into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.Once it strengthens, it will be given the domestic name ‘Crising,’ marking the third cyclone to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility this year.
Loriedin Dela Cruz-Galicia, a Weather Specialist at Pagasa, confirmed the agency’s analysis. “Based on our data and analysis, there is a big probability that the LPA would become a tropical depression and will be called Crising,” she stated. This progress is a key focus for the weather bureau as they monitor its trajectory and potential impact.
Habagat Continues to Bring Scattered Showers
Beyond the LPA’s potential development, the prevailing ‘habagat’ is expected to continue affecting most other parts of the archipelago. This monsoon system is intrinsically linked to the country’s rainy season, bringing with it the characteristic scattered and occasional rainfall.
Metro Manila and Surrounding Areas Under Watch
Specifically, areas including Metro Manila can anticipate occasional and scattered rains over the next 24 hours. This is a direct outcome of the ongoing influence of the southwest monsoon. Residents in these regions are encouraged to stay updated on the latest weather bulletins from Pagasa.
Pagasa’s continuous monitoring and analysis are crucial for providing timely and accurate details to the public, ensuring that communities can prepare for the anticipated weather conditions.
